12 August - 16 August 2026
The sun moves through each of the Human Design gates; one gate every 5-6 days. As it does, it brings a collective theme to humanity, a spark on the treasure map of our Human Design chart that can be felt and invites exploration. I call these Stories from the Stars. Plus read to the bottom for details of upcoming events.
Please note: From 1 August, I am on a creative sabbatical for a month, however, I have scheduled the Stories from the Stars emails so these will continue to come out to you while I’m gone!
From today until 16th August, it’s the turn of Gate 4: The Gate of Formulisation.
Pull out your Human Design chart and see if you have Gate 4 defined (coloured in). If you do, you already know this energy, you have consistent access to it at all times. You might feel it a little stronger right now, and you’ll see it in those around you. If Gate 4 is undefined, it’s usually blank in your chart, but right now you’ll have a strong sense of the themes for the next few days, as will everyone else.
The core energy here is about answers. Gate 4, the Gate of Formulisation, carries a strong and sometimes relentless mental drive to solve, to make sense of what is confusing, and to find the logical answer that resolves a question or brings order to uncertainty.
Gate 4 sits in the Ajna Centre, the centre of mental processing and conceptualisation, and connects to Gate 63, the gate of doubt, via the Channel of Logic.

This channel forms the full arc from the pressure of an unanswered question to the formulation of a solution that holds up to scrutiny. But Gate 4 is the answer. Its job is to take the doubt and uncertainty that Gate 63 generates and work it into something coherent, logical, and usable. The mental pressure this gate generates is meant to be a signal, pointing toward which questions are genuinely worth solving and which answers are ready to be offered.
In its high expression, Gate 4 brings a remarkable capacity for clear and logical thinking. People with this energy defined can hold a problem in their mind and turn it over until a genuine solution emerges. They are not guessing. They are processing. The answers they arrive at have been properly worked through, and when they share them there is a quality of real usefulness to what they offer. This is the energy of someone others come to when they are stuck, because this person has a genuine gift for seeing the way through.
In its low expression, the pressure to have an answer becomes anxiety. There is a pattern here of feeling mentally restless and unsettled until a solution is found, even when no solution is actually available yet, and of offering answers that have not been properly worked through simply to relieve the internal pressure of not knowing. The mind loops, revisiting the same problem from the same angles without arriving anywhere new. The low expression can also look like the compulsive sharing of half-formed answers with others, not because the answer is ready but because holding an unresolved question feels intolerable.
Please note: we all move through the high and low expression of every gate. The aim is simply to notice what you notice rather than to judge yourself for where you land. Gate 4 is not asking you to have all the answers. It is asking you to trust the process of working through a question properly, and to resist the urge to share what has not yet been fully formed.
Because the Sun is currently transiting Gate 4, this energy becomes collective. You might notice people around you thinking more analytically, working through problems with care, and arriving at solutions that are genuinely helpful and well considered. You might also notice the shadow: a collective mental restlessness, people offering answers with more confidence than the thinking behind them warrants, or a tendency to mistake the relief of having any answer for the satisfaction of having the right one.
The invitation of Gate 4: Sit with the question long enough to arrive at something real. Trust that a well-formed answer is worth waiting for, and that not knowing yet is not the same as failing.
Some journalling questions for you to reflect on Gate 4:
Where in your life are you carrying an unanswered question that your mind keeps returning to, and what would it mean to sit with that uncertainty a little longer rather than rushing toward a resolution?
Where are you offering answers or opinions, to others or to yourself, that have not actually been fully worked through yet, and what is driving the urge to resolve things quickly?
Think of a time when you sat with a problem long enough that the answer arrived clearly and completely. What was different about your approach in that moment compared to when you rush?
-
Where in your life is mental anxiety presenting itself as a practical problem that needs solving, when what is actually needed is rest rather than more thinking?
What question are you genuinely equipped to help others with right now, where your ability to think something through carefully is exactly what is needed?
