Saturday

I had an epiphany today. I realised that what I’m up to, and always have been, is living a creative life.

This Creative Life.

Bam! This covers everything I get up to, without me having to focus on anything in particular. I can paint, I can draw, I can play my hand pan, go to dance classes, write my novel and substack, grow my flowers and teach others how to create somethings from nothings and now I can call myself focussed. I hit my hand pan a little bit to celebrate. I say ‘hit’ because I haven’t been playing it an attempt to stay focussed.

Substack renamed. Again.

Sunday

My daughter is home from university for a pre-op appointment so we all went out to dinner in honour of my husband’s birthday. Small toddlers, asking you “why?” all day and hanging off your t-shirt? You can keep them. Ones that are over 18 that you can get pissed with and laugh until you cry? Those are my favourite type of children.

Monday

My head hurts. I’m never drinking again. Children are completely unaffected and fresh as daisies. Today I wrote with - he is my Monday morning writing buddy. My homework for writing class was to write a journal piece with 50% lies. Thoroughly enjoyed this and slightly perturbed how much I like lying. Must do it more. Could not do dance class as have hurt back and moving like a granny. This bit was not a lie.

Tuesday

Today I had a two-hour astrology reading to see what the stars have to say about what I should do next with my life. The stars were quite helpful. I had been considering applying to train as a Clinical Psychologist (dream from years ago) but the stars said ‘absolutely not, you need freedom’. In essence I am unemployable.

Wednesday

Today I agreed to try out my aforementioned writing partner, Sam, in his day job as a coach. He was goooood. I wrote a bit about here over on fbook. I told him I was wrestling with the question ‘what do I want to do with my life?’ even though the stars had only told me yesterday. It is my most-asked question of myself (and every coach I’ve ever worked with) and leads to intense flip-flopping.

Sam was the first person in 30 years to ask me, “What if that question was a gift, not a curse?” Such a simple question - but kaplow! He was right. I know several people (won’t mention names) who never ever ask themselves what they want to do with their lives. And then have shit jobs they hate and are on a countdown to retirement for the next 15 years when maybe they can do what they want with their lives. They don’t seem to consider that this is a question that can (and should) be asked NOW - and then followed up when an answer comes in.

This question and its shifting answers have taken me on the most wonderful journey through life, from travelling around the world to leaving my corporate job to start my own business, to creating an online coaching tool to moving to New Zealand to moving back to London to moving to France to moving back to the UK to apprenticing with Michael Neill to publishing a book to helping people with anxiety to growing and giving flowers to human design to art to writing a novel. And I’m only 53!!

Also, it snowed and we all squealed for about ten minutes.

Thursday

Re-wrote the offer for my signature program, formerly called One Thousand Women - now called Come Alive. Come join us if you like, before I put the price up on Black Friday. Only if you want to dive into how to bring ideas to life, explore the feminine energies and understand more about being the breath of God and your Human Design.

Also made a mess all over the kitchen table mucking around with cold wax and oil paints. I have a 5 x 3m exhibition space in our local cafe that I need to fill next month. I did the sums. That’s BIG. I have calculated I about another 100 mini originals to fill all the gaps after putting my big pieces up. We shan’t be using the kitchen table as a kitchen table again until Xmas.

Also wrote a graphic murder scene which may or may not make it into my novel. This, I promise you, was 100% lies. Or was it?

Friday

If I had my time again, I would be either Cheryl Cole in her just-after-girls-aloud phase or/and the writer of Stranger Things. How about you?

I’m bingeing season 4 again before the new one comes out again next week. I think of it as homework for being a writer so it definitely counts as part of my creative life. Plus my back still hurts and I feel like a granny.

Signing off for this week as the garden is calling.

Have a lovely weekend,

Nic x
