Self Projected Authority in Human Design: Your Decision-Making Guide

Posted by Nicola Bird on

You've pulled your Human Design Chart and discovered that you have Self Projected authority - so what exactly does that mean?

When a piece of art is calling to you, here’s how to decide whether it’s right for you: With Self Projected Authority, talk about the piece with someone who will listen and hear whether your own voice expresses that it feels like you.

If you’d like to try this for yourself, take a look at my framed canvas prints and notice how you respond to the art. The Lover, pictured below, is one place to begin.

You have a specific way that you are designed to make decisions and no, it’s not by figuring it out with your head. This is known in Human Design as your Authority.

You have Self Projected Authority.

Self Projected Authority is a unique authority in Human Design, where your decisions are guided by your sense of identity and self-expression. If you have this authority, your decisions are meant to come from your core, reflecting who you truly are.

Understanding Your Self Projected Authority

As someone with Self Projected Authority, your decision-making process is deeply connected to your sense of self and personal identity. Unlike other authorities that might rely on emotions, instincts, or willpower, your authority is about expressing and aligning with your authentic self. Your decisions should resonate with who you are at your core, reflecting your true nature.

Expressing Your True Self

For you, making decisions involves speaking and expressing your thoughts and feelings out loud. As you talk through your options, you gain clarity about what feels right. It’s essential that your decisions reflect your true identity and values. Surrounding yourself with trusted individuals who listen can help you hear your own truth as you articulate it.

Honouring Your Authenticity

In practical terms, it’s important to honour your authenticity in decision-making. Your authority is strongest when you make choices that are aligned with who you genuinely are, rather than what others expect of you. By focusing on self-expression and ensuring your decisions resonate with your true self, you create a life that is in harmony with your identity.

Ultimately, your Self Projected Authority is about trusting and expressing your true self. When you make decisions that are aligned with your core identity and speak them into existence, you live in a way that honours your authentic self and leads to a fulfilled and authentic life.
