Gate 55: The Gate of Spirit

Gate 55: The Gate of Spirit

Stories from the Stars: an invitation to explore the themes of your Human Design, one gate at a time.

The same life can feel different from one day to the next. The room, the work and the people are much as they were, but your experience of them has changed. Gate 55 invites us to make space for that inner weather.

The Gate of Spirit

Within Human Design, Gate 55 is located in the Solar Plexus Centre. Open your Human Design chart and look for the number highlighted in the full bodygraph below.

An activated gate is one part of your whole chart. It does not, by itself, define its centre or complete a channel. You can explore these questions whether or not this gate is coloured in; an unactivated gate does not mean you lack the qualities discussed here.

Allowing room for your spirit

Spirit sits in the Solar Plexus and connects with Gate 39 through the Channel of Emoting. Its traditional themes concern emotional experience, mood and spirit.

For reflection, consider how you respond when your mood does not match what you think you ought to feel. There can be relief in noticing a state without immediately turning it into a verdict on your life or a problem you must explain away.

In its high expression

You allow emotional movement and notice what supports you through it. Beauty, music, quiet or appropriate company may give a feeling somewhere to exist without demanding a performance.

You can appreciate a brighter moment without requiring it to last forever. You can also take a difficult state seriously while leaving room for your perspective to change.

In its low expression

You may pressure yourself into gratitude, compare your inner experience with someone else's outward life or assume that today's feeling tells the whole truth about tomorrow.

A gate is not an explanation for ongoing distress. Your experience deserves practical care and appropriate support when you need it. There is no spiritual achievement in managing everything alone.

The high and low expressions here are invitations to reflection, rather than a scorecard. Notice what fits your experience and leave room for what does not.

The invitation of Gate 55

Notice today's emotional weather with honesty and choose one ordinary form of care that fits it.

You can return to this inquiry whenever the theme catches your attention. If you follow Human Design transits, it can also be a journalling focus during a transit through this gate; a transit is not an instruction to make a particular decision.

Some journalling questions for you to reflect on Gate 55

  • What am I actually feeling today?
  • What do I believe I ought to feel instead?
  • What supports me without requiring me to perform?
  • Which conclusions could wait?
  • What kind of company or support would feel helpful?
