Gate 14: The Gate of Power Skills

Gate 14: The Gate of Power Skills

Stories from the Stars: an invitation to explore the themes of your Human Design, one gate at a time.

Being good at something can make it surprisingly difficult to stop doing it. People rely on you, the work makes sense, and you know how to deliver. Yet competence alone does not tell you whether you want to keep giving it your life. Gate 14 opens that question.

The Gate of Power Skills

Within Human Design, Gate 14 is located in the Sacral Centre. Open your Human Design chart and look for the number highlighted in the full bodygraph below.

An activated gate is one part of your whole chart. It does not, by itself, define its centre or complete a channel. You can explore these questions whether or not this gate is coloured in; an unactivated gate does not mean you lack the qualities discussed here.

Where your energy is going

Power Skills concerns the energy and resources that can support direction. Gate 14 is in the Sacral and connects with Gate 2 through the Channel of the Beat. It is often discussed in relation to work and material resources, but an activated gate is not a guarantee of wealth.

For everyday reflection, consider how you use what is available to you: your skills, attention, practical resources and capacity to contribute. What do those resources make possible? Whose priorities are they serving?

In its high expression

You recognise your capabilities and give them a worthwhile place to work. You can enjoy being useful without handing every spare hour to whoever asks first.

You take practical needs seriously while remaining curious about the direction your work supports. Sometimes one small adjustment to a role brings more satisfaction than another achievement added to the list.

In its low expression

Your capacity becomes an invitation to carry more and more. You stay with work solely because you can do it, or measure your value through how productive you have been.

Pause before turning dissatisfaction into a dramatic decision. A grounded review of commitments, support and resources can reveal options that exhaustion makes difficult to see.

The high and low expressions here are invitations to reflection, rather than a scorecard. Notice what fits your experience and leave room for what does not.

The invitation of Gate 14

Look at one regular use of your energy and ask whether it supports a direction you still want to travel.

You can return to this inquiry whenever the theme catches your attention. If you follow Human Design transits, it can also be a journalling focus during a transit through this gate; a transit is not an instruction to make a particular decision.

Some journalling questions for you to reflect on Gate 14

  • Which work leaves me feeling usefully engaged?
  • What am I doing mainly because I am good at it?
  • Where are my resources supporting someone else's priorities?
  • What would a more satisfying contribution look like?
  • Which practical adjustment could I explore first?
